ORIGINAL FEST '99

Witchazel pulled into Louisville late last night to help close out the two day O-fest at the Playground. The Witchazel caravan, consisiting of the Hazelmobile and the newly acquired Grey Demon Luxury Bus, burnt down the highway at nearly warp five!! This road trip christined the bus into the Witchazel fleet. Unfortunately at those high speeds one of the busses tires melted off the rim, but that did not phase Dan. He rode it on the rim, like a drummer possessed, in order to get to the thousands of waiting fans.

A little pressed for time the trio set up in record time. This still only left them 30 minutes to play before the next band, White Noise, was scheduled to take the stage. With this in mind they picked their heaviest most energetic songs to give the crowd a boost in the sixth hour of the days events.

Prefaced by only a few clicks of Dan's sticks the trio broke into a slow and powerful groove. As the set progressed so did the groove. A wall of agression slowly overtook the once calm crowd. The anger of the bands riffs quickly became contagious. The band finished off their "power set" just in time to allow White Noise access to the stage. When the music stopped some of the rage lived on. Almost immediately after Witchazel left the stage, fights broke out. Some say it was the alcohol, some say it was the full moon, yet some credit the intensity of the Witchazel set to the violence that insued.

The band promises not to allow the off-stage violence to curb their set. Although they hope that they don't see this reoccur at the next show (May 22) as they play outdoors next to a raging bonfire at the Ramsey home.
