It has been a long time since the last issue of the Hazelnut Valley Times. We here at the paper apoligize for this long absence in quality journalism. The president of O-Industries has been keeping us all very busy in an attempt to meet the April deadline for the release of "witchazel.com 3.0". The reforms to the Witchazel home page will bring new interactivity to the site. It is also rumored that the Hazelnut Valley Times will be abolished, Although we are fighting to prevent this from happening.
Now to bring you up to speed as to the latest happenings. Witchazel had a falling out with Very Angry Records (VAR) in early February. It seems VAR executives felt that Paco and his public displays of alcoholism, co-dependency, and all around unfunctionality did not fit the record company's image. After trying to force the Witchazel bassist out, the remaining members of Witchazel said, "Let the kid have his fun!" and immediately dropped the label in favor of "Shoot'em Where It Counts Records". This will delay the printing of the new demos, wich now include Lath Motley on lead vocals. The band hopes to have the cassettes in by Mid-April.
The quartet has already begun on a single, whose release will most likely coincide (or at least follow by a matter of weeks) the release of the new demo. The single will be one song, whose format hasn't been decided yet. It is the song Bonescraper, the planned title track of the upcoming release of Witchazel's debut full length CD. I have heard a rough mix of the tune and consider to have an even more aggressive stance than past Witchazel releases.
We haven't been able to get any details on the planned release of new Witchazel mp3 files. Only that they are forthcoming. We would also like to note that the boys and gals down in the Witchazel mail room have been working overtime to get those free demos and stickers out in the mail.
