FRIDAY FEBRUARY FIFTH, 1999 EVENING EDITION * 25¢

WITCHAZEL 99, DAY ONE

Witchazel began her maiden voyage into 1999 tonight. Armed only with luck and hope, my press pass allowed me access into the venue. I stood in the shadows (hiding from the brutal rythm section) awaiting the ear destroying crunch of Dave's stack. After a killer set by Zero Cycle (from Louisville), Witchazel took the stage.

The lights dimmed and the audience fell into a deathly like calm. Silence and darkness ruled... Then without warning Dave's guitar broke the silence... and Paco's hair ...the still.

What the hell is this? The sound produced by the three seemed to conjure demons from below. Even the thoughts of Poe must have been distracted. This was definately a new tune. Before the chaos died the trio broke into another new one.

Before the destruction was over, Witchazel performed three new tunes. My mind still spinning with confusion, they broke out with a tune long lost. Dedicated to their long time road manager Selin(reports tell us she will be leaving the band for top secret government work) , the rockers played the old tune with a new approach. Whether it was a tribute or a sorrowful goodbye; it just flat out jammed.

After Witchazel finished their set, Flat Mary Stone took me into the night.

I caught up with Dan after the show to get the "scoop" After months of physical therapy, I felt strong enough to stand up to this press menace. We have a right to know! Unfortunately Dan did not share that veiw. He stomped me all over the parking lot. To top it off Paco pissed on my bleeding corpse-like body.

Not all is lost kids. In order to navigate around my multi-million dollar law suit, Witchazel has granted me an interveiw with a full security and medical staff on hand. This will be, and I quote "Whenever I feel like it." Well Mr. O, I will see you at press time.
