Last night Witchazel opened up the show for Wiggle down at the Firehouse in Richmond. This event marked the 3rd show with drummer Dan Barkman, making him a steady member in the Witchazel line-up. It was apparent that the trio had been nbusy mixing Dan's style into their witches brew. Some songs remain the same while others have taken on a fresh new identity. As promised, Witchazel played a new tune for the audience. The energy and anticipation on stage was obviuos as the lights dimmed. The crowd hushed as they wondered what was happening. Then calmly Dave announced, "We got a new one for you. This one is called Waiting". Then in a sudden burst of decibles the trio began. This new tune with the familiar head romping groove had all the ingredients; heavy ctrunching guitar, thunderous bass, and the steady meter of Dan "the man" Barkman's pounding drums. This set the Firehouse ablaze in a blistering frenzy.
The rockers finished off their set with a couple of time tested classics, and then gave the stage to Wiggle. Wiggle closed the show with a set that put them in a class by themselves.
Witchazel plans to pick up the pace now that a new tour bus has been found. With only one confirmed date remaining in October, the band plans on working in a couple of more tunes to play in what is reported to be a busier November calendar.
